From Restaurants to Hospices: Embracing Diversity in Projects
You know, while we’ve been known for our work in the hospitality industry, we’ve dedicated about 20% of our efforts to diverse projects, spanning healthcare and community sectors. Take our partnership with St. Joseph’s Hospice, for instance. We had the incredible opportunity to refurbish and oversee a ward that housed 12 rooms and 16 beds. Our focus wasn’t just on aesthetics – we provided quantity surveying, project management and CDM Advisory services.
A Helping Hand Amidst Challenges: Responding to the Pandemic
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we stepped up to coordinate and provide our services at St. Joseph’s Hospice. We helped them set up a new coffee bar in their reception area, even managing to secure trade contracts at discounted and ex gratia rates. It wasn’t just about providing a better space for the staff – it inspired others to make similar positive changes.
Transforming Spaces: Innovations in Hospice Design
Our latest adventure takes us back to St. Joseph’s Hospice. We’re working on another ward, facing familiar challenges like CRC Requirements, fire stopping and air treatments. But this time, we’re also swapping out outdated air systems with modern HVAC setups. Our goal? To enhance the provision of services that can be provided throughout the facility. Plus, we’re starting discussions for possible future upgrades in other parts of the facility.
Common Threads: Bridging the Gap Between Restaurants and Hospices
Now, you might wonder how we effortlessly switch gears from restaurants to hospices. Surprisingly, the core processes remain quite similar. Whether we’re dealing with a restaurant’s cold storage or a specialized hospice facility, we know that essentials like electricity, space optimization and proper air circulation are key.
Green Commitments: Sowing Seeds of Change
At JULIAN CHURCH & ASSOCIATES, our commitment to doing good isn’t just confined to our projects – it extends to the environment too. For every job we undertake, we plant five trees. And we’re on target to plant a minimum of 500 trees over the next few years. Our dedication goes beyond profit; it’s about giving back to the community and preserving our planet.
