We’re in a process of actually going through B Corp registration at the moment and continue to move towards that goal. We have set down our targets and our key performance indicators and have been sharing how we are consciously constructing our processes. It’s not only how we travel to work, how we travel to sites, but actually how we manage our processes and the impact they have for the environment, our clients and the people around us.
Environmental & Purpose Update
We’ve made a statement to say, we’re going to buy trees for every job that we complete. We’ve got a target of 500 trees in the next three years.
We’re buying as a ‘cutting the ribbon’ ceremony on completing our work. With that we’re giving back to our environment. The simple feeling and sense of giving back to our planet is really having an impact on our team and the conversations we are having with our clients and their teams too, its having a genuine ripple effect. It’s nice for our clients when they receive that certificate at the end of the job.
I think they appreciate some of what we’re doing in that respect.
Charity Update
Also, as part of the B Corp process, we’ve set aside 1% of our turnover this year for charitable causes. We’ve made charitable donations split across two or three different things that will probably represent when we do the books greater than 5% of our profit level for this year.
For Julian Church & Associates where we’re putting back into our local community and our international community. We made a donation impactful donations this year with supporting the efforts out in the Ukraine too.
International Aid
CEO Julian has a property in Bansko, Bulgaria where Ukrainian citizens have been coming into the town looking for some shelter for safety. We’ve made a donation which will cover a safe place for them, to have a hot meal and for them to gather. They’re mainly women and children and some elderly people. As the the Bulgarian community welcomed Julian and his family, it was a simply instinctive act for Julian Church & Associates to give back to the town that is now hosting refugees.
It’s a safe space. It’s a place for them to learn with the children, to get together and play have hot meal. And our donation has covered three months worth of funding for that.
Local Charitable Support
In terms of other charitable support we’re working with a gambling company at the moment. We made a conscious decision with regards to the community factor and from a persons wellbeing, rather than them being left to their own devices online.
It was evident that the work in the unit needed to be done and was going to be done, with our conscious decisions we made a choice to take it on knowing that we can give back to the community, making a charitable donation to GAMB Care and we’ve made a significant sum to cover some of the impacts of gambling.
With being alone online, if someone does have a problem with gambling they don’t have a friendly ear of someone guiding them away from a bad decision, where-as the shop environment and the teller behind the counter could be supportive and indicate to the gambler when its not a good idea and may just help people think twice before hand.
Community Support
Julian used to be a football coach and we are looking to put some money back into the youth sports. It’s more about participation and not shirt sponsorship and showing us off. It’s about putting back to the kids and providing a facility or coaching facility for the kids to actually play football, get exercise and grow as a community and make friends.
We would love to hear from anyone in the Worthing area who would benefit from having a conversation about this.
In The Future
We will certainly will be carrying on with things like the Ukrainian support that we have done, we hope for the citizens of Ukraine that it comes to an end soon and then we can focus our efforts in supporting them with rebuilding their beautiful country.
Julian was a big supporter of CALM and have been a big supporter of CALM previously. He had done charity walks personally for them and we’d like to help contribute and give towards that sort of impact moving forward so if youre reading this please keep us update on things you are aware of that we can get involved with.
We like to understand what’s important to our clients and how we can give back to them, like good stuff that people like Gaucho do.
Can we match what they’re doing?
Can we contribute to what they’re doing in sustainability?
Those are conversations to be had and for a future blog to keep you updated with.

We thank you for your continued support and we are grateful for you being on this journey with us.
