Diving into Luxury
The spa complex was a major project featuring swimming pools, treatment rooms, gyms, a restaurant, and a cafe—all meticulously designed and executed to meet the highest standards. What sets this project apart is the remarkable timeframe it demanded—two and a half years. This stark contrast to the usual construction timelines for cafes or restaurants we are involved with underscores the unparalleled level of detail and planning requisite for this luxury venture.
The spa uses nature as a source of inspiration, sitting within the landscape introducing unobstructed views of the countryside whilst enjoying treatments, fitness facilities and pools set within the 44,00 ft2 facility.
Building a Dream Team
The project team was set within the command of the lead consultant and architect. In essence the project team was a familiar team delivery structure with companies with whom we had worked on projects over a number of years. Supplemented to this were other consultants specifically brought in for their interior design and associated consultancy advice.
Lessons in Complexity
In the dynamic realm of the leisure sector, especially given the spa usage and crossover into the restaurant and hospitality areas, precision and efficiency are paramount. The role of Quantity Surveying is an integral linchpin at the heart of the project team seeking to optimise costs and enhance overall project management within the vibrant and competitive world of spa leisure facilities. This included scrutinizing design plans, suggesting alternatives and ensuring cost effective solutions without compromising on the guest experience.
Not without risks, our role included assessing those risks and formulating contingency plans, safeguarding the project against unforeseen challenges and claims.

In essence, the spa project had several unique features with a focus on operational sustainability; we sought and did provide our cost consultancy services to deliver the client requirements within the budget within the preconstruction and then over the 18 month build period. It showcased the meticulous planning, attention to detail, and unparalleled expertise required for success in such endeavours.
